While oil painting approaches are emphasized, students should select color-based media that they are genuinely interested in exploring. The instructor, and/or Studio Program Manager (Adam Mysock, mysock@manifestdrawingcenter.org), can answer questions prior to the beginning of the course.
Regardless of the medium chosen, students are encouraged to have colors available that are equivalent to the following list:
Level of Study: Students should have some prior experience with figure drawing (this may include having regularly attended our uninstructed Open Figure sessions in the past). The Figure in Color is designed for artists looking to take their figure drawing beyond a foundational, greyscale exploration toward refined pigment-based imagery capable of communicating ideas via the human form and color.
LOCATION: Unless otherwise specified, all courses are hosted at Manifest's new facility at 'M1' in Clifton at 3464 Central Parkway (see map and directions below). Manifest's new facility provides multiple studio classrooms, private lesson space, a darkroom, a film processing room, and a multi-purpose lecture and class meeting space as well as on-site parking, grounds, and exterior spaces in which to relax, discuss, and make art. The studios are outfitted with professional equipment, furniture, and study aids.
